11/18 Ups & Downs

Transitions, caucuses and gavels. See who made this week’s list!

Up Arrow1Lou Barletta and Tom Marino. Donald Trump values loyalty and Pennsylvania Congressmen Lou Barletta and Tom Marino were among the first public officials to endorse the real estate tycoon. As a result, they were two of the sixteen members named to the official transition team. Given the massive number of jobs to fill and the chaotic rush to do so, it’s quite likely that one or both of these men could end up with a major position.

Down ArrowJohn Yudichak. The Lehigh Valley State Senator really wanted to be Caucus Secretary. Considering that the man who holds the job, Larry Farnese, is facing thirteen counts of vote buying, Yudichak likely thought his attempt at a promotion would be a slam-dunk. The leadership, however, were unmoved by Farnese’s predicament. In retaliation, Yudichak publicly blasted Farnese and the leadership for their decision. It was the correct course but sadly public criticism of his party is going to be more damaging for Yudichak’s hopes than criminal charges.

Up Arrow1Dwight Evans. After thirty-five tumultuous years in Harrisburg, Dwight Evans is finally moving down South. After Chaka Fattah’s legal troubles opened the door, the long-time State Rep. was able to win the Democratic nomination. He cruised to victory on the 8th and this week was sworn in early to fill the vacancy in PA-2. Here’s hoping his tenure in Congress can be the capstone of a lengthy career in public service.

Up Arrow1Stan Saylor. The Appropriations Committee Chair wields the most powerful gavel in the Capitol. The retirement of Bill Adolph left a gigantic power vacuum that Stan Saylor and Scott Petri each attempted to fill. This week, Saylor emerged the victor and will head the most influential committee in the legislature.

Down ArrowEric Papenfuse. We’ll be giving the Harrisburg Mayor a down arrow every week until he lifts his ridiculous ban of PennLive. We’re now up to week twenty-three.

  1. I’ve been exploring for a little for any high quality articles or blog posts on this kind of area . Exploring in Yahoo I at last stumbled upon this web site. Reading this info So i’m happy to convey that I’ve an incredibly good uncanny feeling I discovered exactly what I needed. I most certainly will make sure to do not forget this website and give it a glance on a constant basis.

  2. No mention of Dave Urban. Mayor Papenfuse is not the only one who ignores PennLive. Mr. Urban and Rob Gleason are planting stories with a compliant, superficial, shallow and dishonest media.

I thought Donald Trump was not appointing lobbyists. Dave Urban was chief of staff for a master of pork, Arlen Specter, and has been a lobbyist of 14 years. I hope this is not true.

Rob Gleason wants to be an ambassador.

Rob Gleason is the quintessential paradigm of a political profiteering swamp dweller

FTA Urban, a West Point graduate who served in Operation Desert Storm, was chief-of-staff for Sen. Arlen Specter, and has advised both Toomey and former Sen. Rick Santorum.

Since 2002, he has been a lobbyist with the Washington-based American Continental Group. His clients include Comcast, Raytheon, Time Warner, Drexel and the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Another possible appointee, Gleason, acknowledged in an interview Friday that he has had discussions about a potential role in a Trump administration. But, he said, for now there is “nothing to report.”

  3. I am liking this Democrat, Eric Papenfuse. Not every Democrat panders to the shallow and superficial, dishonest media. Like Donald Trump. 🙂

  4. It’s enough for Marino and Barletta to be on the transition team, but IMO they’ll keep their current jobs. They are of much more use to Trump and Republicans here in Pennsyvania by staying in their elected positions. Despite this past election, the state is still purple, not red. But due to the prestige of being on the transition team Marino and Barletta will get more media visibility, especially outside of the traditional Democrat bastions, and will help promote the incoming administration’s agenda.

  5. The cartoon in question is the work of artist Dave Coverly. Someone stripped his name and web address from the top-right corner. It’s a copyright work.

  6. Trump

Kane is the poster child for incompetence. In the dictionary next to the word “stupid” is her picture

  7. I’m going to sue you for patent infringement with that Gullibility Test machine. I patented that concept with Trump University.

  8. What’s wrong with being a dumbass? I am and won the Presidency, which is a leadership position. Look at all the windbags and racist jackals that I’m appointing. Jeff Sessions, top KKK buddy, for AG. And you though Kathleen Kane was unfit!!!

  9. So the Yudichak incident reveals that Dems are doubling down on being the party of criminals? Got it.

  10. Get the facts straight. Yudichek was going for leader with his partner Tony Williams. When he couldn’t get Farneses vote for THAT he ran against him for secretary. YUDUMCHEK is a dumbass. His leadership team consisted of windbag do nothing Williams as Approp Chair and Drunko Lisa Boscola.
