Legislative Elections Update:

HD-145: Education Committee Chairman state Rep. Paul Clymer (R-Bucks) will retire at the end of 2014 after 17 terms in the House. “I give my heartfelt thanks to the residents of the 145th District for their confidence and support in allowing me to serve these many years. It has been an awesome and humbling experience,” Clymer said in a statement. “One of my priorities since day one has been to recognize freedom and liberty are best secured when ‘We the People’ are represented in the halls of government.”

The northwest Bucks County district is likely a safe one for the GOP. Republicans enjoy a 10 point voter registration advantage and Clymer cleared his 2012 opponent by 30 points.

HD-164: Billy Smith, running for State Representative in the 164th legislative district against incumbent Margo Davidson, announced the support of several local officials: Upper Darby Democratic Committee Chairman Ed Bradley, Current Lansdowne Mayor Tony Campuzano and Former Lansdowne Mayor Jayne Young.

“It was an easy decision. We need a representative who is a true progressive and that’s Billy Smith,” Bradley said.

SD-28: The York County Republicans officially picked Rep. Ron Miller (R-York) as their nominee in the upcoming special election to replace resigning Senator Waugh (R-York). This comes after weeks of speculation that he would be the nominee.

“I’m well positioned to be able to be elected to the Senate, go to the Senate, and immediately help to lead us,” Miller said.

Miller received 59 votes at the meeting. His closest competitor earned just 8.

  1. Dear Mr. Geeting: You wrote a wonderful article on state education funding allocations but your premises are totally off base. Should the State really invest in the Children of Philly welfare queens? It is all about the job Creators Mr. Geeting: the Cyber Charter School Cabal and the Prison industry and its suppliers. I would give you a down arrow for this week.
