Republican John Featherman has once again set his sights on public office, but this time around he’s aiming a little higher.
Most recently, Featherman sought the Republican nomination for mayor of Philadelphia in 2011. He lost the primary to endorsed candidate Karen Brown by less than 100 votes.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Featherman was reported to have announced his intentions to run for Congressman Bob Brady’s seat in the US House of Representatives at a Republican City Committee meeting January 12th. Brady, the Chairman of the Philadelphia Democratic Party, has represented Pennsylvania’s first congressional district since 1998.
Featherman’s bid for a Congressional seat is not the first time he has campaigned against Brady. Featherman contested Brady’s Congressional bid in 1998; Brady amassed 81% of the vote.
When asked if his crusade against the incumbent Democratic congressman was a “potential suicide mission,” Featherman responded to WHYY Newsworks, “Everything I’ve attained was something that some people thought was unattainable.”
