PoliticsPA and the Law Office of Adam Bonin asked you for your predictions in the 2014 primary – and 360 of you responded.

In the race for the Democratic nomination for governor, 93% of you predicted Wolf, 3% to each McCord and Schwartz; 0% to McGinty. 69% of you chose Schwartz as the runner-up.

For Lt. Gov., 69% picked the winner – Mike Stack; 16% for Critz, 12% for Koplinski; and 2% for each Brandon Neuman and Mark Smith. You were right on the runner-up as well; 50% chose Critz for second place.

But after statewide races, your predictions became slightly less accurate.

55% chose Shaughnessy Naughton to beat Kevin Strouse in the PA-8 Democratic primary. Wrong. Strouse won with 51% of the vote.

90% of you chose Rep. Bill Shuster to retain the Republican nomination in PA-9, and you were right.

Right again in PA-12, 76% of you chose Erin McClelland to beat John Hugya. She won by a huge margin yesterday.

Responses were split on the contentious, wide battle battle for the Democratic nomination in PA-13. 33% of you chose the winner – State Rep. Brendan Boyle, but it was close in the pool. Leach took 31%; Margolies took 19% and Arkoosh took 16%. In reality, it was nearly a blowout for Boyle. You were correct in guessing the runner-up, Marjorie Margolies. 28% selected her.

In SD-2, you were correct again selecting winner Sen. Tina Tartaglione. 81% chose her.

But you were wrong in SD-4, 68% of responses said that indicted Senator Leanna Washington would win reelection. She fell to challenger Art Haywood.

And wrong again in HD-36, 65% chose Erin Molchany. She lost to Harry Readshaw.

In the open race for HD-74, 54% of respondents chose winner Josh Maxwell over Josh Young.

In HD-164, Margo Davidson won reelection, just as 67% of respondents said she would.

Rep. Tallman fought off primary challenger Brian Gembusia; 89% of you guessed he would.

Pam Delissio bested challenger Dave Henderson and 86% of entries predicted that correctly.

One of the worst predictions came in HD-197, where 59% said that JP Miranda would win reelection, despite legal investigation into a ghost employee in his office. Leslie Acosta actually won that Democratic primary, despite falling to third in our predictive pool.

Rep. Mark Cohen narrowly fought off a primary challenge from Jared Solomon in HD-202, and 64% of you expected him to.

Finally, voters of Philadelphia rejected a change to the “resign to run” rule that prohibits city councilmen and women from running for mayor before they resign their current seat. 60% of you thought it would pass – wrong!
