We still don’t know if the 2016 Democratic National Convention will be in Philly but we do know when it will be.
DNC Chair and Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced today that the convention will take place the week of July 25th next year.
“This is the next step to finalize where and when we will nominate the 45th President of the United States, highlight the Democratic Party’s agenda of fighting for expanded opportunity and contrast it with the Republican Party’s commitment to the fortunate few,” Wasserman Schultz said. “We are still in discussions with three excellent cities and are looking forward to a diverse and inclusive convention that displays our party’s values.”
This comes after news broke earlier this month that the Republican National Convention will take place from July 18th to 21st. The 2016 RNC will be held in Cleveland, Ohio.
The location for the Democratic convention has not been chosen yet but Philadelphia remains one of the three finalists along with Columbus, Ohio and New York City, New York.
Philadelphia’s hosting committee remains confident the City of Brotherly Love will ultimately win the honor of hosting the event.
“We feel very confident we have the strongest possible bid,” Philadelphia 2016 spokesman Kevin Washo told PoliticsPA. “We have a great deal of variability concerning the dates.”
Washo also pointed out the Wells Fargo Center has hosted a convention before and that surrounding attractions like XFINITY Live will enhance the experience.
Reports indicate the DNC will announce their decision early next month.

They should have it in a welfare slum. Cater to the base. Maybe Northeast Philly
I really hope Philadelphia doesn’t get it and that it goes to a more deserving city.
