Governor Tom Wolf delivered his budget address two weeks ago, now the State Senate and House will kick off their side of things. Over the next three weeks, both Appropriations Committees will hear from all of the departments and groups who receive state funding.
In his budget address Wolf struck a tone of working together. How the members of the Appropriations Committees respond to this during the hearing may be a window into how the 2018 election will be played out.
PoliticsPA has combined both schedules to show what each side will be hearing each day. The Senate hearings will be held in Hearing Room 1 in the North Office Building, and the House hearings will be in Room 140 of the Main Capitol Building.

The GOP refuses to acknowledge the depth and breadth of the state’s fiscal hole it has dug itself into and refuse to take any pro-active solutions to shore up it’s fiscal house further delaying the fiscal pain that must be endured as they hold the line on taxes.
Instead of embracing solvency and budget surpluses, they have dragged the state in massive deficit, causing millions to be borrowed and millions in interest to be paid to their buddies in the banking industry. The underfunded pension funds statewide are no joke either. These could be solved this year if they took advice that the actuaries have suggested and made them solvent over a 15 year period and they would never have to look back again at a pension being underfunded.
Why do these so call “representatives” refuse to deal in reality and make common sense decisions to solve these issues and put this crap behind them? Are they that stupid and lack the foresight to take a long term approach instead of dealing with short term fixes like the Federal government that has bankrupted the nation’s treasury. It’s time to demand accountability from these men and women and have them create the best state in the union or have them resign as they are unable to do the job.
The problem isn’t that we spend too much. The problem is that we tax too little.
How will the GOP punish poor people this year?
