2/26 Ups & Downs

Polls, lobbyists and a sidewalk altercation. See who made this week’s list!

Down ArrowJohn Dougherty. What was John Dougherty thinking? The labor leader had a banner 2015, expanding his power and witnessing his brother being elected to the State Supreme Court. Now, however, Dougherty is under fire because of a physical altercation between himself and another man. According to both versions of the story, the incident began when Dougherty saw a union sticker on the man’s truck and asked him to remove it. What a petty reason to risk one’s reputation. It’s not just Dougherty, though, who has been hurt by this story. As the prominent face of organized labor in the Keystone State, his actions have painted unions in a bad light. With one act, Dougherty hurt the cause he’s fought for his entire life.

Down ArrowSeth Williams. Speaking of the Dougherty case, special mention must be made of the Ray Guy of Pennsylvania. It’s becoming difficult to find an issue the Philly DA doesn’t want to punt on, whether it be the emails of Frank Fina or the conduct of John Dougherty (the former got him included in a fantastic Esquire piece from David Gambacorta).Williams has already been roundly criticized for passing the buck with this case but it’s quite astounding to consider all of his self-inflicted wounds.

Up Arrow1Joe Sestak. When we covered last week’s debate, we considered it a draw though it was definitely a Sestak crowd as he won the post-debate straw poll. The Congressman then embarked on another of his customary statewide road-trips, this one on foreign policy. The real victory, though, was the results of the latest Franklin & Marshall poll. While the race is still very much up for grabs, Sestak now holds his largest lead of the race. For now at least, that famous determination looks to be paying off.

Down ArrowBill Shuster. Oh, how Congressman Shuster hates Politico. The D.C. outlet has been reporting on the Transportation Committee Chair’s relationship with an airline lobbyist over a year now. This week, their piece about Shuster’s efforts to change the air traffic control division was chock full of anecdotes that primary opponent Art Halvorson is using to his advantage. April 26th can’t come soon enough for Rep. Shuster.

Up Arrow1Tom Wolf. Of course, this was anything but a good week for the Governor. Nonetheless, we wanted to take his opportunity to wish him the best in his battle against prostate cancer. It was also great to see officials from all stripes come out and publicly do the same. Good luck, Governor.

The tweet of the week goes to the Huffington Post’s Matt Fuller for this golden joke in the midst of the chaos of the Nevada Caucus. The Answer would proud:

  1. When is this shoe gonna drop:

And when is Seth Williams going to explain this:

Seth Williams’ DOWN ARROW does not even discuss his hiring of Kathy Martin.

Kathleen Kane won an election. In a landslide. She may be stupid. She may be naive. She may have been in over her head. But, what she found when she did what she promised to do while campaigning was a disturbing network of people who seemed to think the rules don’t apply to them. They used their State computers to distribute vile, racist material.

Their attitudes towards minorities, women and homosexuals is very disturbing. The fact that they shared the material with Judges they appeared in front of is even more disturbing. They created a group of people who all had the goods on each other. People that shared the same racist, woman-hating attitudes. And, once you were part of that group, the other members had a hammer they could hold over you.

Frank Fina was one of the prosecutors in this group. He prosecuted people for mis-using their State computers. And then he used his State computer on this:https://www.flickr.com/photos/zadock1/3580634808. That is but one example. There are many others.

When Kane won, but before she took office, Fina finalized his “unjust” plea deal with Tyron Ali. Bruce Beemer called it “unjust.” Fina dropped all the charges. Fina let Ali keep the $430K he stole from a non-profit set up to help children.

Con-man Ali’s lawyer is Bob Levant. Fina negotiated that sweet deal, in the 11th hour (right before Kane was set to take over) with Levant.

And now Fina is suing the AG’s Office for money. And guess who one of his lawyers is? Yep — Bob Levant.

Rumor has it that Levant has helped Seth Williams with the FBI’s criminal investigation into Williams.

Now – Seth Williams has created a new position at the DA’s Office – “General Counsel” and “Chief of Staff.” It’s a high paying job. The person he hired just walked off the street into that job. Her name is Kathy Martin and she has zero general counsel experience and hardly any prosecutorial experience.

But – she is Bob Levant’s wife. Huge coincidence, huh?? I think not. It’s no wonder that Williams refuses to fire Fina. They are in bed together. Levant and Martin are on that stinky mattress too.

Something is rotten at the DA’s Office.

  2. Well it looks like Fina and Company are owed a bunch of apologies. We already know that they are owed a bunch of lawsuit money. Thanks to josh and his wire tapped conversations, this case just got easier and more LUCRATIVE. Mo Money Mo Money Mo Money.

  3. Lol. Even the “Special Prosecutor” knows no charges will be filed. This is so funny. I can’t wait for the Fina arrestees to come out crying

The special prosecutor hired by Attorney General Kathleen Kane to examine the evidence in Porngate says it is unlikely he will bring criminal charges against anyone involved in the scandal.

Douglas F. Gansler, in an interview Monday, said bringing charges under obscenity statutes would be far-fetched. Such prosecutions have become fairly rare nationwide, he said.

As for the former or current officials who swapped pornographic or otherwise offensive emails on go

  4. This is not an internet joke. This is the elected D.A. in Philly:

  5. Thank God Trump will be the next President. Then jokes over the internet will go back to being what they are, jokes over the internet. The PC police will be extinguished forever. ALL Liberals will be GONE forever.

  6. Marie – Pretty soon, he will be pretending to be a girl (Brandy) or a minority. It’s the same pathetic RETARD troll. DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS.
