3/29 Morning Buzz

Today is the last day to submit your suggestions for PoliticsPA’s Harrisburg Superlatives – the deadline is 5pm.

I know many of our readers, especially staffers in Harrisburg, have been talking about this list but haven’t yet submitted your ideas. What are you waiting for! You know these elected men and women the best, and I need your input the most in order to make a good list.

Let me emphasize that nominations are anonymous, off-the-record, and totally secret.

Supporters of State Reps. Eugene DePasquale and Brendan Boyle are locked in a tight battle to see who can get the most nominations for “Most likely to be Governor some day,” but several other categories have received less attention and are very much up for grabs.

Hundreds to students poured into Harrisburg yesterday to protest the proposed cuts to higher education. Legislators are hearing the message, and a number Republicans are backing away from the drastic scale-back of funding to the 18 state-owned and affiliated schools. Republican students on those campuses also have mixed feelings about the cuts.

Senator Casey echoed the main themes of Barack Obama’s Libya speech, agreeing with the President’s major points and emphasizing the limited scope of the military engagement. U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy, whose name is oft floated as a potential challenger to Casey, was highly critical of the President’s speech. Meanwhile, the Times-Tribune takes a look at Casey’s 2012 landscape.

Good morning politicos, and welcome to the buzz.

Campus Conservatives Have Mixed Feelings Over Higher Education Cuts
We decided to check in with some of the students who weren’t on hand for the rallies: college Republicans. We talked with a few campus conservatives across PA, and found that those attending state-supported colleges had mixed feelings about the Governor’s budget.

Toomey, Tim Murphy, Turzai & Other GOP Politicos Endorse Raja
