Legislative Elections Update

SD-5: State Rep. Kevin Boyle won the support of Mayor Jim Kenney in the Democratic primary.

“Kevin Boyle has a proven record of standing up for Philadelphia and fighting for our families. He’s gone after absentee landlords and pushed to expand access to higher education and universal pre-K,” said Mayor Kenny. “Kevin has been a positive force for the people of Northeast Philadelphia and he’s someone I am proud to endorse and count on to help our city in Harrisburg. I urge you to vote for Kevin Boyle in Tuesday’s Democratic primary for State Senate.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Mayor Jim Kenney, whose 25 year career serving our city has been defined by a commitment to investment in our neighborhoods,” Boyle responded. “We share a passion for ensuring that every child in our city has the right to a quality education from pre-K through college, and ensuring that neighborhoods like the ones we grew up in have the resources they need to flourish. I have known the Mayor for many years from my time working in City Council, and look forward to continuing that relationship as Northeast Philadelphia’s next state Senator.”

The 5th district consists of Northeast Philadelphia.

HD-164: The Philadelphia Building Trades Council endorsed Councilwoman Sekela Coles in the Democratic primary.

“I am proud to have the unanimous endorsement of the Philadelphia Building Trades Council. It is time for the 164th District to have a representative who stands up for fulling funding education and working families,” said Councilwoman Coles. “Having the endorsement and confidence of the Philadelphia Building Trades Council it is clear that I am the only serious candidate in the Democratic primary for the 164th District who will stand up and fight for working families across the SEPA region.”

The 164th district is located in Delaware County.
