Assisted by vote-splitting among their liberal opponents and a relatively stable Canadian economy, Canadian Conservative party bounded to their first majority government in decades. The old guard Liberals fell out of the top two places in the House of Commons for the first time in Canadian history as the further-left New Democratic Party beat out several of their incumbents and weakened many more.

Speaking to a room of 500, Santorum drew applause for his aggressive criticism of President Obama and his appeal to the country’s religious roots. “I believe that the people who are in Washington DC today have a very different view of what America is all about than our founders did,” Santorum said
