State Sen. Waugh to Retire: State Senator Mike Waugh, Republican of York County, said he will retire at the end of his fourth term. He cited a recent medical diagnosis.

Miller Flips, Rejoins Harrisburg Mayoral Race: Contrary to what he said just days ago, Harrisburg Controller and former Democratic candidate for Mayor Dan Miller is going to pay the filing fee to secure his spot on the ballot as the Republican Candidate for Mayor.

Legislative Election Updates:

SD-28: Waugh’s decision to retire sets up an open Republican state Senate seat. So far, York County Commissioner Steve Chronister and state Rep. Ron Miller (R-York) have expressed an interest.

HD-101: State Rep. Mauree Gingrich (R) has a primary. Lebanon City Council Chairman John Dissinger on Saturday announced his candidacy. “We do not need more government, but what we do need are more effective leaders in government who are willing to give honest answers and straight talk to the citizens,” Dissinger said. Gingrich has been in office since 2003.
