Emails, polls and online voter registration. See who made this week’s list!
Kathleen Kane. The Attorney General has been adamant for some time now that she will not resign despite her legal troubles. Unfortunately for her, though, Pennsylvanians are increasingly becoming open to the idea. Two separate polls this week from Quinnipiac and Franklin & Marshall respectively found that 49% and 46% of PA voters think Kane should resign. It’s a plurality but not a majority, at least not yet. Still those numbers must be frightening for the AG, who is now awaiting trial.
Frank Fina. For years, Kathleen Kane has desperately been trying to deflect some of the heat that has been focused on her towards her bitter enemy Frank Fina. This week that finally happened. Many of those notorious pornographic emails were released and they paint quite an unflattering picture of the prosecutor. While the emails may not get Fina in legal trouble, they are a major hit to his reputation and could end up costing him his job.
Tom Wolf. Sure, the budget process isn’t really moving and his approval ratings are stuck but it was still a great week for the Governor. The biggest outstanding question concerning the budget stalemate (politically at least) was who would get the blame, Gov. Wolf or the legislature. Well, thanks to the aforementioned F&M poll we have our first sign of an answer. A majority, 54%, of respondents point their finger towards the legislature while just 29% hold Wolf accountable. Now that the Governor knows where he stands, he is in prime position to both end this impasse and gain as much as possible. Whether he’ll succeed in that effort, however, remains to be seen.
Barack Obama. It was a tough week for the President. He is currently focusing all of his energy towards making sure Congress does not block his nuclear agreement with Iran. That’s why last Monday’s double-whammy hurt so badly. First, the Quinnipiac Poll found the deal has dreadful numbers with just 26% in support and 61% opposed. Then, Congressman Brendan Boyle announced his opposition. Furthermore, the Q poll and the F&M poll found his approval ratings basically flat. In response, the President gave an interview to 6abc to convince Pennsylvanians (and undecided vote Bob Casey) of the importance of the deal. Ultimately, the Commander-in-Chief may be forced to look outside the Keystone State for support.
PA Voters. It was a fantastic week for the current and future voters of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. On Thursday, the Governor announced that we’re the latest state to allow online voter registration. Not only will the site help enroll new voters, it will allow current ones to make changes and request assistance ahead of time. It’s long past time PA enter the 21st century when it comes to voting and this new method will allow more of our citizens to vote than ever before. A welcome win for the democratic process.
The tweet of the week goes to the New York Times’ Alex Burns for combining an Arrested Development reference and the craziness that was the Kane twin misdirection.

Frank Fina does not have the decency to resign. Seth Williams is going to have to fire him. Seth should b-tch slap Fina while he is at it …
Hey Fina Resign already you are Toast Shame on you for trying to bring a woman to her Knees you are 2 ugly to bring any woman to her knees So then you are probably A Gay Blade
Chet-
The online registration site clearly states:
“To register you must:
Be a United States citizen, be a resident of Pennsylvania and your election district for at least 30 days before the next election”
The site also asks for your driver’s license number or last four digits of SSN.
It’s really no different that filling out the form, so no expectation of “illegals” suddenly registering. The state/county checks for citizenship haven’t changed.
People here illegally are not inclined to draw attention to themselves, especially to vote.
Online registration: will someone make sure illegals aren’t registering?
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Fina get some consideration as Donald Trump’s running mate if things like this keep coming out:
Fina’s group of faux motivational posters included an image of a white man, carrying a bucket of fried chicken, being accosted by two deranged-looking black men. The caption? “Bravery at its finest.”
I am trying to think of a way Williams can NOT FIRE these guys … when his Office serves a population that is almost half African American.
Williams ain’t Black if he doesn’t fire those racist pigs the next time he sees them. I’d slap them upside their heads too!!
The VERY biggest DOWN DOUBLE-ARROW should be for AG-Kane; the end is fast approaching.
Looks like the powers that be are looking to pull yet another end-around on due process. There is a procedure in place for trying to pul an attorney’s ticket. PA Officials are trying to circumvent by filing “emergency” petition to lift Kane’s law license.
They will stop at nothing.
Breaking News: Kane out.
One can’t use the words kane and smarter in the same sentence and be take. Seriously.
The biggest DOWN ARROW should be for Seth Williams. He is under federal investigation. He continues to employ people who seem have serious issues with racism and misogyny. And the “sting” case looks worse and worse by the minute … but especially because we now know that the man investigating the matter is a pure racist:
Frank Fina’s group of faux motivational posters included an image of a white man, carrying a bucket of fried chicken, being accosted by two deranged-looking black men. The caption? “Bravery at its finest.”
Can’t wait to see how the remaining “sting” defendants use that little tid-bit. Kane looking smarter and smarter for not prosecuting ANY CASE investigated by Fina … and certainly the one where he targeted Blacks.
