8/9 Morning Buzz

Senator Casey’s two latest abortion-related bills are getting him into some trouble with some pro-choice bloggers on the left. “Should the Democratic Party support anti-women politicians like Casey?” asked one writer on DailyKos about the Senator’s recent effort to codify the Hyde Amendment, “Or is it time to make our tent just a little smaller?”

What’s your sign? Senator Toomey introduced a bill yesterday to repeal U.S. Department of Transportation regulations mandating that towns and municipalities to replace their street signs. The regs aim to make local communities meet federal reflective standards – on the community dime.

The Harrisburg Patriot News has Rep. Todd Platts’ back. Responding to Tea Party murmurs that the Congressman’s vote for the debt ceiling compromise made him a target, the paper’s ed board praised his record of bipartisanship.

And former Congressman Pat Murphy’s headache in Bucks County hasn’t gone anywhere. The DA says he’s getting ready to dive back into allegations that Murphy’s 2010 congressional campaign illicitly arranged absentee ballots – not a headline any candidate for Attorney General would want to see.
