9/20 Morning Buzz

Good morning politicos, and welcome to the buzz.

Electoral College: Add two more names to the list of congressmen likely to challenge Tom Corbett at today’s Washington DC meeting. Reps. Tim Murphy (R-Allegheny) and Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (R-Centre) aren’t sold on the controversial plan to split Pennsylvania’s Electoral College votes.

DADT Repeal: As the House author of the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repeal, former congressman Patrick Murphy made his HBO debut last night at midnight with a documentary that corresponded with today’s end of the policy. Former Rep. Joe Sestak made a brief appearance as well (sans bomber jacket), to talk about Admiral Mullen’s Senate hearing testimony.

GOP Senate Primary: With many candidates having jumped into the race, PolitcsPA checked in with GOP candidates Tim Burns, David Christian, Mark Scaringi, Tom Smith, John Vernon and Steve Welch about their experience this Friday at Republican State Committee in Harrisburg. And check out Dan Hirschhorn’s analysis of the race in Politico.

Toomey on Obama Plan: It took about two minutes after the conclusion of President Obama’s deficit reduction speech for Pennsylvania Senator and super committee member Pat Toomey to explain his critique.

Scaringi Attacks: The U.S. Senate campaign of Harrisburg-area attorney Marc Scaringi is preparing the first paid media buy of the 2012 Republican primary, and he is starting it off with a swipe at Steve Welch.
