9/30 Morning Buzz

Good morning politicos, and welcome to the buzz. It’s the last day of the third quarter – hope you’re looking forward to the flood of last-minute fundraising calls and emails.

Tim Murphy’s Primary Challenger: Months of recruiting efforts by a small, dedicated group of conservative activists has yielded challenger Evan Feinberg, a 26 year-old native of Washington County who spent the past five years working for various conservative causes in Washington, DC, like Sens. Tom Coburn and Rand Paul.

Casey’s 2012 Odds: In this week’s Politically Uncorrected column, Dr. G. Terry Madonna and Dr. Michael Young assess Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey’s re-election prospects.

Quinnipiac Poll: Tom Corbett handling of the recent flooding crisis has earned the Governor a significant boost in job approval, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll. He enjoys a favorable job performance rating by a margin of 50 percent to 32 percent, a net gain of ten points from August.

Barr’s Big Debut: Gene Barr may not technically begin his position as President of the PA Chamber of Commerce President until next week, but he’s already rubbing elbows with a former president.

Rendell for Casey: Just in time for the September 30th Q3 deadline, Ed Rendell is ready to raise the ante in this quarter’s fundraising effort for Bob Casey. The Senator’s campaign recently blasted out an email in which the former Governor asks donors to stand up against the Tea Party.
