2/21 Morning Buzz

Olympic ringsIt’s an olympic day in Pa., as both Philly and Pittsburgh (and 33 other US cities) were asked by the IOC if they’d like to compete to host the 2024 summer games. Good morning politicos, here’s the Buzz.

Sestak Offers Few Clues About 2014 Plans: As numerous Democrats position themselves to run against Tom Corbett in 2014, former Rep. Joe Sestak remains vague. Will he run, or join his political ally Chuck Hagel in DoD?

Toomey ‘Wins’ AFP Scorecard, Followed by Kelly and Murphy: Sen. Pat Toomey’s voting record won higher marks from the conservative group Americans for Prosperity than any other member of the Pa. delegation last session. Reps. Mike Kelly and Tim Murphy lead the House.

Toomey ‘Loses’ Enviro Scorecard; Brady ‘Wins’: Sen. Pat Toomey was one of just four U.S. Senators to earn a 0% on the League of Conservation Voters 2012 votes scorecard. Rep. Bob Brady lead the delegation with 91%.

Remembering Ann Wilson: The former Cambria GOP Chair passed away Wednesday. She was on PoliticsPA’s list of PA’s best chairs, and many politicos are mourning the loss today. “Ann was a dear friend and colleague, and I have always admired her devotion to her family and her friends. She was a wonderful person who will be missed dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Bill and their children,” said GOP Chair Rob Gleason. “I was very sad to learn about the passing of Ann Wilson,” said Congressman Keith Rothfus, who Wilson helped elect. “She was a tremendous leader and tireless advocate for her community.  My thoughts and prayers are with the Wilson family.”

Bosset Goes to Range: Range Resources has a new point person for government affairs in Pa. Terry Bossert, who worked for years at Chief Oil and Gas and previously as Chief Counsel to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, is the firm’s new Vice President – Legislative and Regulatory Affairs in Appalachia. “Range is the gold standard in the capitol because the company has a track record of doing what it says it will do and it’s a privilege to join this organization,” said Bossert in a statement.
