4/8 Ups and Downs

Charles Ramsey. It took a pay raise, but Philadelphia’s Police Commissioner made the bold move to say no to Rahm Emmanuel and stay in the City of Brotherly Love.
.

.

Personal Injury Attorneys. Tort reform is a few steps closer to passing this session and made progress in the PA House this week. Though there are still details to sort out in the PA Senate, insiders on all sides expect that Governor Corbett will sign a bill into law this year.
.
.

Bob Casey. PA’s senior Senator is hitting all the right notes in the face of budget shutdown in DC. A few weeks ago, he made headlines insisting that Congress go without pay in the event of a shutdown. This week, he’s joined several legislators endeavoring to ensure that U.S. soldiers continue to get paid in case of a stalemate. And he’s stayed too low key to get any disproportionate amount of blame.

Eugene DePasquale. The State Rep. from York made headlines across the state with the announcement that he’s looking at a run for Auditor General. It seems like a good match for DePasquale, who seems to love nothing more than find ways to save money.
.
.

Graham Spanier. In the same week that he complained loudly about budget cuts to Penn State, it came out that he is the fifth highest-paid public university President in PA. And he found time to be in the audience of American Idol. The President of Pa.’s biggest university is not making the kind of headlines he should be.

.

Kevin Boyle. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. State Representative.
