Ahmad Ends 207 with $564k in Brady Challenge

Former Philadelphia Deputy Mayor Dr. Nina Ahmad announced she ended 2017 with $564,000 on hand after raising $579,000 in her primary challenge of Congressman Bob Brady.

“We’ve already put together the strongest campaign this Congressional District has seen in the two decades Bob Brady has been in Congress, and we’re not going to stop until PA-1 finally elects a bold progressive voice to the U.S. House,” Ahmad said.

Ahmad received $115,000 from donors, meaning $464,000 was raised through either donations or loans from the Ahmad or other types of loans by the campaign.

Ahmad is challenging Brady, who has been facing possible legal trouble over an FBI investigation into his campaign paying former primary challenger Jimmie Moore to end his challenge during the 2012 election.

    1. The real reason why Nina Ahmad resigned from the post of Deputy Mayor to run for Congress is that she was told by her boss that her 2-year term would not be renewed. Nina was the Chairperson of Mayor Nutter’s Commission on Asian American Affairs which had two fundraising specifically for activities in the Asian communities in Philadelphia. To-date Nina has not released a report on the $18,000 raised on February 10, 2010. The $19,000 surplus from the second fundraising in 2012 was never spent on Asian communities. Instead Nina gave the money to the Mayor’s Fund. Members of Nutter’s Commission have challenged Nina for her lack of accountability of the fund with email copies to dozens of Asian leaders. Yet Nina has responded with arrogance and blatant disregard. In July 2016 a complaint was filed to Mayor Kenney on her poor performance and financial irregularities as Chairperson of Nutter’s Commission. Subsequently she was told that her appointment would not be renewed. It is doubtful that Nina deserves the trust of the constituents of the District.
