Allentown’s solicitor Susan Ellis Wild announced she will be entering the Democratic primary to replace retiring Congressman Charlie Dent (R-Lehigh).
“A lot of people feel dismayed about what’s happening with our government and helpless to do something about it,” Wild told the Morning Call.
Wild believes the skills she has developed over the last 30 years as a lawyer would be an asset.
“I’ve spent my entire professional career dealing with difficult people, negotiating, battling for clients. I think the skills I’ve developed would be an asset,” Wild said.
Wild has reportedly been considering a run for Congress for the last decade, but had been waiting for Dent to either run for higher office or retire.
Wild joins Bill Leiner, Greg Edwards and Laura Quick in the Democratic primary. Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli, Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan, and Bethlehem City Councilman Willie Reynolds are also reportedly considering a run for the seat.

My Questions for candidates for Dent’s Congressional seat:
1. What are your most important policy goals? In what areas do you think we can make the most progress with your help?
2. How do you view separation of church and state?
3. How will you respond to (unfortunate, inevitable) personal attacks on the campaign trail?
4. Do you support public education? Private religious education? What is your position on charter schools?
5. What is your position on women’s reproductive rights, access to birth control and abortion, and equal pay?
6. What is your position on gay marriage?
7. What is your position on DACA and immigration reform?
8. What is your position on the role of EPA and environmental protection in Pennsylvania?
9. How will you conduct your campaign (media, phone calls, door-to-door, fundraising)?
10. How can voters help you?
This woman was appointed by Ed Pawlowski. Need I say more?
Is this the same Susan Wild who partnered up with Mike Fleck to run for L.C. Commissioner
As a Democrat, coming out and saying that you were waiting for the Republican to retire is not a good look what so ever. If she really wanted to represent the 15th, a Republican incumbent surely wouldn’t have stopped her. I feel as though the Democrats have two chances for this seat. 1. John Morganelli runs; he is smart, people like him, and he could appeal to a similar group that Dent did. 2. The Young Republicans in this race beat the crap out of each other and have nothing left in the tank. Regardless, I don’t see Ms. Wild making any wild runs here..
She didn’t come out and say that. The article’s author did. He offered no source, so he may have been editorializing.
