State Senator Rich Alloway and businessman Michael DelGrosso are both reportedly considering bids to replace retiring Congressman Bill Shuster.
Alloway represents one of four state Senate districts covered by the 9th Congressional district, but is not ready to declare one way or the other for the race.
“The senator is humbled by their support, but has not yet made a decision. He plans to take some time this week, talk to his family, consider his options and make an announcement in the near future,” Alloway’s Chief of Staff Jeremy Shoemaker told the Record Herald.
Alloway has served in the state Senate since 2008, and is currently the Majority Caucus Secretary in the Senate.
DelGrosso, who lost to Shuster in the 2004 Republican primary by three points, is also considering a run at the seat this year.
“In the coming weeks, I plan to make a decision on whether or not I will be a candidate for the 9th Congressional District seat. For the past 12 years, I have had the opportunity to help grow my family’s 74 year-old business, DelGrosso Foods, where we have developed new products, expanded our brand nationally and internationally, and created jobs and economic opportunities throughout Central Pennsylvania,” DelGrosso said in a statement.
The Republican primary this year is building up to be a crowded field. Currently, Art Halverson and Benjamin Dayton Hornberger have already declared for the race, while State Senators John Eichelberger and Pat Stefano are also considering runs.

Rich Alloway will get “Moored”. He has groped so many women it’s not even funny.
Amazing news! Best of luck to both.
That’s all well and good, but have either of these guys accidentally shot themselves?
