Altmire Stays on the Attack in New Ad (Watch Video)

Rep. Jason Altmire isn’t taking this foot off the gas. His latest television ad keeps up the attack on Rep. Mark Critz’s votes against Dodd Frank, his ‘present’ vote on the Tea Party budget, and his vote to defund Planned Parenthood.

Unlike the previous ad, which featured Altmire speaking direct to camera, this time regular voters make the charges.

“Mark Critz: you don’t represent Western Pennsylvania,” says one man to the camera.

“When you side with Wall Street,” says a woman, “Over homeowners like me,” continues an older man, “You were wrong, Congressman Critz,” concludes a young woman.

Critz indeed did vote against the Dodd Frank bill, a bill which aimed to address the underlying causes of the recent recession, and voted for a bill to defund Planned Parenthood. However, he disputes the Tea Party budget claim.

Critz’s camp notes that he voted ‘present’ along with an overwhelming majority of Democrats in Congress. The idea was to reduce the threshold for passage and force GOP leadership to risk passing a more politically dangerous version of the budget.

Altmire told PoliticsPA recently that the party line wasn’t relevant.

“I was there. I understand what occurred. I’m not going to play those games. My constituents didn’t send me to Washington to vote ‘present,’” he said.
