Announcing PoliticsPA’s Harrisburg Superlatives

Spoiler alert. Best facial hair: Mike Sturla.

For some time, our readers have asked us to put together a list of yearbook-style superlatives for our lawmakers in Harrisburg. They’ve had a few months of new session, so now that day has come.

PoliticsPA wants to know what you think about Harrisburg’s superlatives. Who’s the best orator? Most likely to succeed? Best dressed? Most likely to be on camera? Biggest bookworm? You name it.

Submit your ideas for categories and nominees. You can email them to Sy, post them on Sy’s facebook wall, tweet them @PoliticsPA, or just comment on the bottom of this story.

We hope to have our list completed by next Wednesday, March 30th, so don’t delay!

Below are some of the categories that PoliticsPA would like to fill. If you can think of a category that we should add, be sure to let us know.

We broke them down into two main categories, professional and personal.

Professional:
Most likely to be Governor some day
Best Orator
Most likely to put foot in mouth
Partisan warrior (Dem and GOP)
One you don’t pick a fight with
District Pride
Most likely to be on camera
Most Promising Rookie
Peacemaker

Personal:

Best looking (man and woman)
Class clown
Biggest bookworm

  1. Eugene cares about the lives of Pennsylvanians and introduces/supports bills that are in their best interests. Alan V. took the words out of my mouth!!

I vote Eugene “Most Likely to be Governor.”

  2. OOPs guess i’m to late but still wanted to put a comment in about Rep. Tina Davis. Definately Class Clown and pretty as can be. Makes my day when i hear her laugh.

  3. I vote for Eugene DePasquale [95th House District- York County] for our next Governor.
Articulate; knowledgeable; visionary; compassionate—- just for starters

  4. Representative Eugene DePasquale. He really is a representative of the people (at large) and not considering corporations as persons. This makes him a public servant and not a politician. I think he definitely would make an outstanding Governor. Interested in ethics in government, environmental protection and public welfare in general.

  5. Class Clown- Tina Davis. You can hear her laugh in every room of the Capitol. She gives Seidel a run for his money- Maybe they can do a “laugh-off” for a charity event.

  6. District Pride: Rep Tina Davis. I went to her house when I was having problems with my landlord and she invited me for dinner. I’ve never seen an elected official care about her constituents like Tina. She also is a REALLY good cook!

  7. Most Promising Rookie- Tina Davis
Tina is a fantastic individual. She is an elected official who truly cares about her community and has already proven herself to be someone who is able to get things accomplished.

  8. i’ve met Brendan Boyle several times and he has impressed me throughout his entire career in NE Philly! I would definitely vote for him for Governor someday.

  9. Tom Caltagirone for “one you don’t pick a fight with”. More than one person has learned that lesson, plus he is a deal maker working across both aisles. My friends on both sides say he knows how to seal the deal and get things done, but don’t play games; he shoots straight.

  10. bjk73, well said! I would also like vote for Brendan Boyle for most likely to be Governor and Kevin boyle as more promising rookie!

  11. Brendan Boyle for most likely to be governor, Kevin Boyle for most promising rookie – Too often we get Ivy Leaguers who only serve their cocktail party guests, or street fighters who can’t read a policy paper. With these two, we have the best of both worlds.

  12. Nick Miccarelli believes that Delaware County is the center of the universe. When Pennsylvanians from the western part of the state and out-of-staters ask Nick if Delco is near Philly he replies, “No, Philly is near Delco.”

  13. Thaddeus Kirkland has got to be one of the best dressed, with each new suit, he breaks records for button placement and quantity. He is certainly pushing the fashion envelope.

  14. Nick Miccarelli certainly has a lot of district pride and is committed to working hard for his constituents. He would be a great Governor someday.

  15. Eugene DePasquale – Most likely to become governor (the sooner, the better!)
Judy Schwank – most promising rookie-to-be

  16. Most likely to be PA Governor: Rep Eugene Depasquale

Depasquale is a true allie in the fight for sensible, fair regulation and taxation of the Marcellus play. He also fights for a level playing field for minor parties and our most vulnerable citizens.

Please enter his name as “Most likely to be PA Governor” in this poll.

  17. Eugene DePasquale is needed to clean up the attorney generals office and get it back to protecting the people vice enabling big business by threatening municipalities. Maybe as governor he can get the Deptment of Environmental Protection to change thier new goal from partnering with industry to actualy operating in the unbiased interest of the public as it was origionally created to do.

  18. If you can make it in northeast philly. You can make it anywhere! Brendan Boyle for Gov

  19. Yooo kelly mccarthy!!! Your my favorite neighbor and ps girl I cannot agree more Brendan Boyle is the man and will be governor one day. PS this site is building community!

  20. I’ve heard Brendan Boyle speak in public and was just blown out of the water. He is definitely going to be Governor one day. Moreover, I live in his brother’s district and have met him several times…he has to be the most promising rookie. I’m glad that the Boyle Brothers hail from my neighborhood and know that one day they’ll be running my state!

  21. Brendan Boyle for Most Likely to be Governor someday! Kevin Boyle for most promising rookie!
