Harrisburg, PA – As newspapers throughout the state endorse Joe Sestak’s brand of pragmatic leadership, Pat Toomey remains dogged by the endorsement of fellow extremist Sarah Palin.

“Pat Toomey has been dogged by the endorsement of fellow extremist Sarah Palin for almost a week, and he still refuses to even say her name,” said Mark Nicastre a spokesman with the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. “Pat Toomey knows that Pennsylvanians reject his Sarah Palin brand of extreme politics, and now he’s struggling to answer any questions about his fellow extremists like Sarah Palin and Rick Santorum.”

Pat Toomey: Expressionless. “The Republican nominee is trying to keep some distance from Tea Party activists while embracing more traditional Republicans. He welcomed former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani at a small rally Friday in a fire station in Blue Bell, northwest of Philadelphia. But speaking later with reporters, Toomey was expressionless when asked if Palin is qualified to be president, a question he sidestepped in Wednesday’s debate. “Politicians don’t decide who’s qualified for office,” he said. “Voters decide.”” [AP, 10/22/10]

Pat Toomey: Sidesteps. “Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey sidestepped questions about his endorsement from Sarah Palin. Asked after a campaign event whether he thought the former governor’s endorsement helped his Senate campaign against Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.), Toomey was noncommittal.” [The Hill, 10/22/10]
