1,000 greet Palin at South Strabane book signing

No one went exactly rogue, but there was a lot of love for Sarah Palin on Saturday in Washington County.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee stormed into town to hawk her new memoir, drawing more than 1,000 passionate supporters who stood in line for hours to get a peek at the one-time governor of Alaska.

“Sarah! Sarah!,” some in the crowd chanted as they waited for Palin’s chartered bus to arrive at Sam’s Club in South Strabane just before 11 a.m. “We love you!”

Palin, wearing a form-fitting black suit with her trademark glasses, did not greet the crowd and was whisked to a draped-off area inside the store, out of view of Sam’s Club shoppers.

She spent about three hours behind a desk signing copies of her just released book, “Going Rogue: An American Life.” She made mostly small talk with her fans, smiling widely and saying phrases such as “God bless you” and “Thanks for coming.” The Palin camp refused requests for interviews.
