Bumsted: Don’t underestimate Rohrer

Attorney General Tom Corbett can’t take state Rep. Sam Rohrer lightly in the Republican primary for governor.

Corbett, the endorsed GOP candidate, runs the risk of being embarrassed if the little-known and underfunded Rohrer makes it a race on May 18.

How could the relatively obscure state House member of Berks County make it a competitive contest against a candidate twice elected to statewide office?

Rohrer might be in the right place at the right time.

The anger directed at the liberal policies of Barack Obama by tea party activists could benefit Rohrer. But can Rohrer “out-conservative” Corbett in the primary? That remains to be seen.
