Callahan bests Dent in fundraising

Democratic Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan reported Thursday that he raised $380,000 for his run against incumbent 15th District Republican Rep. Charlie Dent in the last three months of 2009, topping the three-term incumbent’s fundraising numbers for a second straight quarter.

Dent said he raised about $350,000 in the same period, but that he is still tabulating the final amount.

The new numbers put the two campaigns on roughly equal financial footing heading into 2010. Callahan’s campaign said it has more than $625,000 cash on hand, while Dent’s campaign said it has more than $600,000.
