The Cook Political Report on Wednesday changed its ranking of the Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race from “lean Democrat” to “toss up.”
The shift comes a day after the GOP scored a huge victory in a slate of statewide judicial races, including Republican Supreme Court nominee Joan Orie Melvin’s 6-point victory over Demcoratic candidate Jack Panella.
Democrats Joe Sestak and incumbent Arlen Specter are competing for the party’s nomination. Pat Toomey faces Peg Luksik for the GOP nomination, a race he’s heavily favored to win.
