After months of polling that suggested GOP challenger Chris Christie would safely become New Jersey’s next governor, incumbent Jon Corzine has dramatically changed the tide, and is now favored to be elected to another term. Today’s endorsements from two out-of-state, yet regionally significant newspapers, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The New York Times, could prove to be a final boost to push him over the edge. The recent emergence of an independent candidate, Chris Daggett, has greatly impacted the race, and pollsters largely agree that Daggett has siphoned significant amounts of voters away from Christie.
