An e-mail that Mayor Chris Doherty’s wife sent Wednesday afternoon urges her friends to support pairing him with Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato as the Democratic ticket for governor and lieutenant governor.

A spokesman for Mr. Doherty’s campaign denied the campaign was behind the e-mail.

The e-mail, obtained by The Times-Tribune from a recipient, tells supporters to visit www.pa2010.com and answer an online poll in support of an Onorato/Doherty ticket. The Web site covers statewide elections.

“As many of you know, Chris (my husband) is running for governor. There is a poll out today, and only today, about an Onorato/Doherty ticket,” Mrs. Doherty wrote. “Please go to pa2010.com and cast a vote to say yes. This would make a terrific ticket. Please spread the word to as many people as you can. The momentum is building in Chris’ favor!”
