Evans threatens to cut Corbett’s money if he pursues lawsuit

Read the PLS story here:

House Appropriations Chairman Dwight Evans (D-Philadelphia) on Wednesday threatened to cut Attorney General Tom Corbett’s state appropriation if he continues pursuing a lawsuit that seeks to overturn the newly signed federal health care bill.

The powerful House chairman, in unusually blunt language, said Corbett is punishing taxpayers to gain a political advantage for his gubernatorial campaign.

“I can assure him, as chairman of the Appropriations Committee … that I will find a way within his department, if he continues this effort, that he will pay for it in his department,” Rep. Evans said. “We’re not going to sit idly by and allow him to play politics on the backs of the taxpayers. We’re not going to accept that.”

  1. I imagine the Pennsylvania State Senate would not look too kindly on that. Too bad for Evans he cannot ram things through without Senate agreement. Idle threats…

  2. Stand operating procedure of the powerful democrates. Evans will find a way anyway just like his mentor the mighty one. Okay folks it is time to take this power and give it back to the American people. Put it on the ballot, put everything on the ballot, majority rules and not harry reid’s majority the American people we are the majority we rule. I want Corbet to defend my constitutional rights why dosen’t Evan what our rights protected?

  3. I am in favor of Corbett filing the law suit because the Dems. are taking away our FREEDOMS one piece at a time and that is the way communist’s work and really that is WHAT the democrats realoly are is Communist’s

  4. I have only thought in mind when I read this article and that is keep count of all these Democratic,( Socialists, Marxists, and Communists’) come re-election time and vote them the hell out of office and start to return this state back to the Commonwealth of Free Republic that it was once was. Return the power back to the Sovereign People like it was and always meant to be and stay. Out with these diabolical elected officials who think they are the GOD of my life this November.

  5. Mr. Evans, very few people outside of your liberal bastion of Philly even know who you are, much less care what you think. Mr. Corbett is doing his job, which he was handily elected AND re-elected to do, by protecting our rights under the Tenth Amendment.

Tom Corbett is making me proud as AG, and he will be an excellent Governor. Dwight Evans will never be more than what he is today, a little-known state legislator. Be happy that you are in a safely liberal district, Dwight. Otherwise, you would be getting the boot this fall. I can already hear the howling from Philly that will commence when the Gov race is called for Corbett, EARLY in the evening! (No offense to the good people of Philly, I know there are some.)
