After Arlen Specter’s loss, President Obamacalled him and said when things settled down after the Memorial Day recess he’d like to meet with him.
Thursday afternoon the two men met for 20 minutes at the White House, just the two of them.
Coming off the Senate floor, Specter refused to go into detail about their conversation, saying only that they discussed “a number of items on the Senate agenda and a number of issues important to Pennsylvania.”
When pushed on more specifics like Elena Kagan or the climate bill, Specter deferred.
