More Democrats endorse Pike in 6th

U.S. Rep and Philadelphia party boss Bob Brady and former Lieutenant Governor Mark Singel have endorsed sixth congressional district Democratic candidate Doug Pike, his campaign said Monday.

Pike, frontrunner for the party’s nomination, also said he has received the support of Chester County Democratic Secretary Adam Thomas and Phoenixville Council President Henry Wagner.

The endorsements are another signal that the Democratic Party’s southeast establishment has coalesced around Pike, a former editorial writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer. He has also received the backing of U.S. reps. Allyson Schwartz, Chaka Fattah and Patrick Murphy.

Pike faces Iraq war veteran and doctor Manan Trivedi for the party’s nomination, a race some analysts are re-examining after Trivedi was able to raise more than $100,000 last fundraising quarter. He has also received the endorsement of former state senator Connie Williams.

Pike has raised more than $900,000, much of it from his personal fortune.
