A new Republican candidate entered the already crowded 6th Congressional District field last week, touting himself as a “property rights champion” in the mold of former presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Patrick Henry Sellers announced his candidacy last week in Philadelphia, in front of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. The site was chosen, Sellers said in a press release posted on his Web site, because his campaign will focus in part of approving an audit of the Fed.
“The Federal Reserve needs to be audited and its books and ownership needs to be transparent,” he said.
Sellers is the fifth GOP candidate in the southeast district. He joins state Rep. Curt Schroder, businessman Steve Welch, former state Revenue Secretary Howard Cohen and Chester County Recorder of Deeds Ryan Costello.
“I welcome Pat into this race which is critical to the future of our region,” Welch said in a statement. “Pat and I share a common concern that our nation is on a risky fiscal path, creating mountains of debt on the backs of our children and grandchildren. 6th District voters are the true beneficiaries when they have numerous candidates to look at, with a robust debate over which policies can help move us forward. I look forward to a spirited and substantive campaign with Pat and the other Republican candidates in the primary.”
Said Cohen: “In his announcement he focused on important economic issues, and I look forward to a civil, in depth exploration of these critical issues with him and the others seeking the GOP nomination. There is nothing more important than debating ways to get our neighbors back to work. As I noted in my Announcement on November 12th “We must get people back to work. We must oppose those who pass huge, unfunded spending bills on Capitol Hill.”
