Pat Meehan Receives More Votes than Any Candidate in 7th District

DREXEL HILL, PA – Pat Meehan, the Republican candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 7th District, issued the following statement today following yesterday’s primary election. Vote totals in the 7th District show that Meehan received the most votes out of any Republican or Democratic candidate in the district, including statewide candidates. Meehan’s vote totals surpassed his Democrat opponent, State Representative Bryan Lentz by over 9,000 votes despite a highly competitive Democratic Senate Primary race between Senator Arlen Specter and the current 7th District Congressman, Joe Sestak.
“I greatly appreciate the hard work of all of our volunteers on a rainy, miserable day,” said Meehan. “Travelling to polling locations throughout Delaware, Chester, and Montgomery Counties, I was pleased to see the level of support for my campaign and our message of restoring the people’s voice in Washington. That hard work and support resulted in our campaign receiving more than any other candidate in the 7th District – over 9,000 more votes than my Democrat opponent. That is an impressive figure considering the contested Senate race involving the current Congressman.”
“If elected I will help put Washington back to work for the people by reducing taxes, bringing spending under control, and getting government out of the way so small business can create jobs that won’t go away when the bailouts and handouts end,” said Meehan. “I look forward to setting up a vigorous series of debates with legislator Lentz on these and other issues. The more people learn about Lentz’s tax and spend record, the more they will see he is part of the problem in Harrisburg and will be part of the problem in Washington.”
