Democratic U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire has $1.2 million on hand after raising $280,000 in the year’s first fundraising quarter, FEC reports filed Thursday show.
He’s raised $1.5 million so far this election cycle, an impressive total for a western Pennsylvania congressman.
Altmire doesn’t face a primary opponent, meaning he’ll be able to conserve his resources for whichever Republican emerges from the 4th District primary, either Allegheny County attorney Keith Rothfus or former U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan. Whoever emerges from the GOP battle will likely face a significant financial disadvantage to Altmire, at least early on.
