An internal poll from Democrat congressional candidate Mark Critz’s campaign shows him up 8 points over Republican Tim Burns in the special election battle to replace the late U.S. Rep. John Murtha.
The poll, obtained by PoliticsPA, reports Critz, Murtha’s former district director, is ahead 45 percent to 37 percent, up from the 3-point edge he held, 41 percent to 38 percent, when the survey was taken in mid-April.
The questions asked for the poll were not available, meaning there is no way to verify they weren’t skewed to favor Critz. The survey was conducted by Global Strategy Group, a Democratic polling firm, of 400 likely voters and has a margin of error of 5 points.
Recent polls of the race have been varied, with Burns, a businessman from Washington County, leading by as many as 6 in at least one and Critz holding a small edge in others.
