U.S. Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper’s campaign said Friday that she had about $685,000 on hand to end 2009 after raising more than $1 million last year.

Dahlkemper, a freshman congresswoman, likely faces a stiff test in this year’s general election. An array of Republican candidate, including businessman Paul Huber and car deal Mike Kelly, have announced candidacies for the GOP nomination.

The 3rd Congressional District is considered moderate, with Dahlkemper narrowly edging out incumbent U.S. Rep. Phil English in 2008.

“I’m proud to have so many people supporting my efforts, I believe the overwhelming amount of support we’ve received over the past year is a true testament to my commitment to fiscal responsibility and my work to bring jobs to our communities,” she said in a statement.

“While I’m proud of all that we’ve accomplished in my first year in Congress, much more needs to be done to get our economy back on track. I’m committed to doing all I can to bring jobs and economic recovery to our region, and these efforts will remain my focus moving forward.”
