Republican congressional candidate Paul Huber has about $220,000 on hand after adding about $180,000 to the campaign’s coffers in the 4th fiscal quarter, according to reports filed with the FEC.

The 3rd Congressional District Republican candidate has contributed $150,000 of his own money to the campaign, including $100,000 last quarter.

Huber, who is one of many Republicans in the 3rd District vying to take on Democratic incumbent Kathy Dahlkemper, decided he would at minimum match each dollar he raised from contributors with his own money, according to campaign manager Danny O’Driscoll. He hasn’t decided if he’ll continue to do that this year, the manager said.

“It’s something he’s looking at to see what kind of resources he’ll need to get the message out,” O’Driscoll said.

Huber learned earlier this week he had a new challenge for the Republican nomination from Butler County businessman Mike Kelly. The car dealer is considered a serious candidate for the nomination.
