U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter’s campaign has unveiled a new attack ad that criticizes the salaries of Joe Sestak’s staffers, saying the Democratic challenger’s support for minimum wage increases is hypocritical because he won’t even pay his own people that much.

The 30-second spot started running at least by Wednesday in the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia media markets, sources who saw the ads tell PoliticsPA.

The salary issue has become a familiar one for the Specter campaign, which has spent months, sometimes with the aid of union and Democratic officials, blasting Sestak for paying three relatives significantly more than many of his other staffers. The ad suggests some of those staffers make so little they qualify for food stamps.

“Joe Sestak, just another politician,” the narrator intones at the end of the spot.

It’s the second attack ad Specter has run against Sestak – the first hit him over missed votes in Congress this year and a demotion he received at the end of his career in the Navy.
