Sixth District Congressional candidate Curt Schroder has received endorsements from local state senators Bob Mensch and Mike Folmer, the Republican’s campaign said Tuesday.

It’s another sign Schroder, a longtime House lawmaker, has the support of the district’s Harrisburg representation. His campaign announced in late November it had received support from an array of Schroder’s House colleagues, including gubernatorial candidate Sam Rohrer.

Mensch, who won election to the state Senate in a special election in the fall, is a former House lawmaker, and Folmer is a conservative ally who frequently appears at the same rallies and press conferences as the Chester County Republican.

“It’s been my pleasure to work with Curt for the past several years in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and I know he represents the highest ideals of fiscal and social responsibility,” Mensch said in a statement.

Although Schroder is considered the most conservative of the four candidates in the 6th District GOP field, the state lawmaker also clearly has some institutional support from the Republican Party. He faces businessman Steve Welch, former state Revenue Secretary Howard Cohen and libertarian-leaning Patrick Sellers in what many expect to be a highly competitive primary.

Chester County Recorder of Deeds Ryan Costello dropped out of the race Monday.
