Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Joe Sestak formally challenged the ballot placement of Green Party candidate Mel Packer, the second time this year the southeastern congressman has tried knocking off a third-party candidate from the ballot.
Sestak also successfully challenged Democratic candidate Joe Vodvarka before the party’s primary in May. Then, like now, Sestak listed himself as the challenger, an unusual move for any candidate, much less a major one for a statewide race.
Packer, as a Green Party member, would appear to be positioned to take away votes from Sestak.

I object to your last sentence. Sestak does not own the votes. It is just as valid to say that Sestak would take away votes from Mel Packer. And in fact, he is trying to. It is also valid to say that people who want to vote for Mel do not want to vote for Sestak. There are thousands of Democrats who are uninspired to vote for their party’s candidate, leave the people who don’t want to vote for your candidate alone.
In a democracy we should be embracing more choices, and chastising those who seek to silence a voice.
