HARRISBURG — President Obama has offered to campaign with Joe Sestak in his battle against Republican Pat Toomey.
But the Democratic U.S. Senate nominee would rather his wife come down instead.
“I really want, my No. 1 choice, and (the White House) gave me a wish list, is Michelle Obama,” Sestak told reporters after a speech at the monthly Pennsylvania Press Club luncheon. “And I told them it’s a woman’s nation. Women are more employed than men for the first time in our nation’s history.
“She coming in would help emphasize that,” he added.
Sestak did say he would also welcome appearances by the president and Governor Ed Rendell, both of whom, particularly Rendell, supported Arlen Specter against Sestak in the primary.
“Governor Rendell I think has offered to help out and he knows Pennsylvania,” he said.
“Look, I work with everybody, or I try to.”
