Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey leads both of his potential Democratic opponents by nearly 10 points, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll released Tuesday.
Toomey leads Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, who received his party’s official endorsement over the weekend, 47 percent to 38 percent. Five percent support another candidate while 10 percent of those surveyed said they weren’t sure.
The former Lehigh Valley congressman leads Joe Sestak by a similar margin, 43 percent to 35 percent. As expected, the hypothetical matchup between the two lesser-known candidates has more undecided voters, 15 percent.
The poll, conducted Monday, surveyed 1,000 likely voters and has a margin of error of three percentage points.
Its results are similar to a Rasmussen poll released in late January.
In a matchup between Specter and Sestak, the incumbent leads 51 percent with and 36 percent. About 10 percent of the Democratic voters surveyed weren’t sure who they would support.
