PoliticsPA: Toomey’s raises $1.67 m in 4th quarter

Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey’s campaign raised $1.67 million in the fourth fiscal quarter, his campaign said Wednesday.

It was the best fundraising haul yet for the likely GOP nominee. The former congressman raised $1.56 million in the 3rd fiscal quarter after and $1.59 million in the 2nd. The campaign has $2.78 million on hand.

The campaign has also attracted contributions from more than 30,000 people, according to Campaign Manager Mark Harris.

The report comes on the heels of a poll released Wednesday morning that showed Toomey with a 14-point lead over Arlen Specter among likely voters in a general election matchup.
