Gubernatorial candidate Jack Wagner picked up another endorsement from a local Democratic leader Tuesday when his campaign said it had received support from the chairwoman of the Sullivan County Democratic Committee.
“Jack has executive experience and experience auditing state agencies, exposing waste, fraud, and abuse,” said Chairwoman Germaine Donahue in a statement. “I also like his legislative experience as a former member of City Council (President) and the state Senate (Leadership). Jack’s track record gives him the ability to work with the state legislature.”
The auditor general has released a steady stream of endorsements from county Democratic leaders since beginning his gubernatorial campaign. On Monday, Wagner unveiled he had received the support of Helen Whiteford, chairwoman of the Cambria County Democratic Committee, along with two other local officials.
Wagner is counting on his ties to many longtime Democratic officials to help him win the party’s primary.
He faces Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato, Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty and Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel for the party’s nomination. Campaign finance reports released yesterday showed each of the candidates lagged far behind Onorato’s fundraising efforts.
