Toomey plans to take full advantage of Obama’s visit to Allentown Friday

Welcome to Pat Toomey’s wheelhouse, Barack Obama.

With the president’s listening tour on the economy set to kick off Friday in Allentown, the day’s anthem won’t be singer Billy Joel’s famous ode to hard times in a hardscrabble town.

The White House-to-Main Street tour comes in the middle of the Senate’s debate on health care reform and this week’s call for 30,000 additional U.S. troops in Afghanistan, giving the president’s trip to Allentown an under-the-radar effect.

But the opportunity is not being lost on Toomey, Pennsylvania’s Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.
