Argall Considers a Run For Lieutenant Governor

Dave ArgallState Senator David Argall (R-Berks) is reportedly considering a bid for Lieutenant Governor next year.

According to the Hazleton Standard-Speaker, Argall is exploring a bid after being pushed by some of his supporters.

“I’ve been asked to look at a candidacy for lieutenant governor by some of my traditional supporters. So we are exploring that possibility. If I choose to move ahead, I would have to circulate petitions for the primary next May,” Argall told the paper.

Earlier this year, Argall proposed a Constitutional amendment to change the way the Lieutenant Governor is selected.  Argall’s plan would allow the Gubernatorial candidate to pick their own running mate, as long as the selection was approved by the candidate’s state committee.  The earliest the amendment could be in effect would be for the 2022 elections according to Argall.

Argall said he will make his final decision in December after he sees who is entering the race for Governor.

Former state Rep. Gordon Denlinger (R-Lancaster) and former Revenue Secretary Dan Meuser are considering runs for Lieutenant Governor as well.

  1. Should say R-Schuylkill County and also Berks. Last time he ventured out of the comfort zone, Tim Holden defeated him handily. Curious how he will do state wide, but, if he can push through the big tax increase for shifting school property taxes, that may help. Denlinger’s brother-in-law ran twice state wide, maybe he thinks he can do better. Those races should have been a learning experience.

  2. I think for you will be a great Lieutenant Governor but if Gordon Denlinger runs for the position i’m hoping and i will be supporting him. If he does loses the primary to you and i will support you then but i’m hoping for Gordon Denlinger wins the primary and the general election. and i think for he will be a great Republican Nominee is to run for Lieutenant Governor in 2018 and get rid of Tom Wolf and Mike Stack altogether.

  3. Argall is one of the most genuine, polite and respectful man in Harrisburg. He is well educated and is a fantastic public speaker. Meuser is also an extremely intelligent man. I think both would do just fine in the position and it would be nice to see some calm from the Lt. Governor after all the crap we’ve gotten from Stack.

  4. Incompetent and foolish DelCO Chester and Bucks Dem leaders will find a way to mess up and so he’ll be helped by this. Ancient leaders who have been in power for 30 years and lose every year but have superiority complexes for some reason. Unbelievable.
