Vice President Joe Biden will come to Philadelphia Monday to continue the administration’s push for more stringent gun laws, the White House announced Thursday.
Sen. Bob Casey, who reversed his longstanding opposition to an assault weapons ban in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting, will join him. As will several other politicos.
From the WH:
On Monday, February 11, 2013, the Vice President will travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to hold a roundtable discussion with law enforcement officials to discuss gun safety. Senator Bob Casey, Representative Bob Brady, Representative Chaka Fattah, Representative Allyson Schwartz, and Deputy Attorney General James Cole will also attend. Additional details on the Vice President’s event are forthcoming.
It’s part of a continuing push by the Obama administration for agenda items including the ban on so-called assault weapons’, a ban on high capacity magazine clips, and mandatory universal background checks.
President Obama visited Minnesota earlier this week.
