BREAKING: Pileggi Not Running for State Supreme Court

Dominic-PileggiSenator Dominic Pileggi will be staying in PA’s upper legislative chamber.

After losing his spot as Majority Leader, Sen. Pileggi faced a career crossroads.

A big rumor out of PA Society weekend was that the Senator would run for one of the open State Supreme Court seats. Now, in an apparent attempt to squash that buzz, Pileggi made clear he won’t run next year.

“Over the past few weeks, many people have asked me to consider running for the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania,” Sen. Pileggi wrote on his Facebook page. “While I’m honored by the support and encouragement, I will not be a candidate for the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in 2015.”

“I look forward to continuing my service in the Senate to address the significant issues facing our Commonwealth, and will continue to fight for government transparency, meaningful pension reform, and a fair basic education funding formula.”

The terms of Chief Justice Ron Castille and Correale Stevens are up in 2015, which along with Justice McCaffery’s resignation, creates three vacancies.

  1. Exactly! No one wanted this guy to run except for the other candidates! Well, maybe the unions!! He would not have made it out of the Primary! What a joke!

  2. Let’s be real – no one asked Senator Eeyore to run for Supreme Court. He floated his own name and found no interest, probably because he has the dual baggage of being unqualified and having pissed off pretty much everyone in the Republican Party by blocking all conservative legislation over the last four years.
