The latest voter registration numbers are in from the Department of State and Democrats still hold a 480,000 advantage over Republicans throughout the Commonwealth.
Philadelphia and Allegheny Counties have the largest number of Democrats with 775,604 and 508,905, respectively. The Philly collar counties of Montgomery (301,774), Delaware (201,824), Bucks (198,144) and Chester (157,255) follow.
On the GOP side, Allegheny tops the list at 254,449, followed closely behind by Montgomery (202,969), Bucks (193,115), Lancaster (175,890) and York (159,330).
Independents comprise nearly 11 percent of all Pennsylvania voters (930,014), while other parties have nearly 350,000 members.
Democrats have outregistered Republicans in new or change applications by just over 9,000, while the GOP has seen about 32,000 Democrats or others switch to the Republican party, versus just 21,000 switching to the Dem side.

In a functioning, non-corrupt democracy, there is no way the State Senate should be majority Republican.
Dems are highly concentrated in cities so when drawing districts, even fairly, you are going to have compact districts that are 80-90% dem while the GOP districts are spread out and likely to include the suburbs
